Great unit. Large screen makes a big difference. Installer says it needed the antenna even though it was on the hardtop, contrary to the manual. Don't know if it did or not but it workers great. Even though I am limited to navigation on Lake Erie, its been and excellent tool for helping me get where I need to go.
Have taken several trips with it and find it to be very valuable in getting me where I need to go. I like the fact it is very responsive, and redraws quickly as I change perspectives.
It does a great job of showing me where I am at which is helpful as I navigate thru some fairly shallow channels and water. It does not eliminate the need to watch were you are going and once in awhile, it will draw a plan that takes the boat across land but it always gets me where I want to go!
Its a great aid but not a replacement for watching what you are doing! Hi I cant give my opinion yet about using this Garmin because I am waiting for an transducer, In the first look it looks it is very good. I hope to use it as soon as possible. Eric Doran. Garmin versus - I'd appreciate your advice. Thread starter ksgoldman Start date Feb 10, I'm finally at the point where I need to make a decision on electronics for my new boat and keep tossing a coin between the Garmin and Garmin Although the and look great, they really don't seem to be worth the extra money especially since I can reinvest it in additional electronics like XM Weather.
I'd appreciate any and all perspectives on going the touch screen versus the non-touch screen route. I've heard pros and cons about the touch screen and would like to do this right the first time.
I've already decided on Garmin given that I have had great experience with their electronics in the past and I don't fish, and am not trying to see birds at miles. For me I like their intuitive user interface and customer service. Thanks for the help on this. ElyseM GreatGrady Captain.Ffmpeg missing frames
When i was looking, i looked at both units and end up getting the 's for the reason that i thought that every time i touch the screen would leave marks, but i heard that's not the case.
I'm happy with the 's but the DOES look better with less buttons.Your question may be answered by sellers, manufacturers, or customers who purchased this item, who are all part of the Amazon community. I've had Furuno radar, but, I just like everything being one brand, which I've chosen to be Garmin Great products, easy service locally, and great call in support However, Home Port isn't the best, but after you get used to it, it's okay June 4. Was recently on a delivery of a new 63' with all Garmin components and it was impressive.
It wasnt' thebut I think the is just the 'glass screen' version of Garmin's other models, the 'guts' of the system are the same. Ended up running at night in the 63' to make St. Augustine first day of the delivery and the radar was quite impressive; picked out markers, anchored blowbotes, etc, with ease. Instead of a splotch showing that there may be a group of boats anchored, it picked off each and every mast.Chick brooder ideas
I like furuno radar, but their navnet is lacking compared to Garmin. I deliver a lot of boats, and the navnet system just isn't as fast as the Garmin, takes a bit of time to 'rasterize' the chart on the screen and is slow to update. The Garmin stuff flies. The only GPS software I have seen that 'beats' Garmin is the Nobeltec stuff, but you have to have a computer onboard to run the software. Have heard good things about Simrad, but have very little hands on with there new stuff.

Page of 1. Filtered by:. Previous template Next. Garmin and xsvPM. Ok im looking at a new boat the is equipped with the and GSD 24 sounder with a 1kw transducer. I know this is a decent setup but also know its kind of on the back burner now with the new xsv.
If i buy this and decide when the wife settles down some from this purchase to put a xsv how much data will they be able to share? Can i view the chirp sounder on the and the auto pilot controls are they better on the 76 series than the 72?
I know the boat also has a Fusion can the handle the Fusion link to control it? I know some of the options are not connected yet but cables and connections would be fairly easy.
Mainly just thinking if i will need to pull the out when i start the upgrade to the 76 series so both displays will do what ever i want. Tags: None. I would have a long term plan to replace thebut in the meantime you can connect them and share some things.
I honestly don't know exactly what because they are not designed to network together, but you will get some interaction between the two. I am fairly certain the chirp sounder on the will not be viewable on the If they are going to be at the same station you won't need them to network anyway.
The and can both control the ra via nmea Jim Maier - www. Comment Post Cancel. But like you say they will be side by side so can use the for GPS and when i put the 76xx in can use it for sonar. Do you know if they both use the same autopilot control? I will be putting autopilot on probably before anything else. Thinking Garmin Reactor autopilot. Is that a good choice? Boat is 27 cape horn with twin yammys.
The Garmin reactor would be perfect, and is controllable from both units. Disappointing for sure, but the won't show sonar from the They can both use the GSD Hard to get rid of a perfectly good though!
I would probably do as you are thinking and keep it for a chartplotter. You can probably even use Navionics on that ! Garmin is removing support in newer versions of the firmware, but little reason to update the
